Caine’s Arcade Global Cardboard Challenge

Caine’s Arcade is a free activity, held in conjunction with the Mission Avenue Fall Carnival, where students create, imagine and build with cardboard and other recycled materials. Kids can bring their own cardboard arcade game, robot, sculpture, or other fun things from home, or come and build one with us! Cardboard will be provided!

Caine’s Arcade Global Cardboard Challenge and Day of Play was first brought to Mission by Mission art teacher Mrs. Walker in 2013 after she saw a NBC Nightly News story about the incredible story of Caine Monroy and his cardboard arcade. Mrs. Walker thought, “I must do this with my students!” and shared it with the students, principal, fellow classroom teachers, and the PTA. This year will be our 9th annual event and children look forward to the event and begin to create, invent, and expand their imagination starting in September.

Everyone is encouraged to save cardboard boxes for this great event. There will be an allotted area for the games where everyone gets to play them. There will also be an area for more creating more things with many, many boxes, rolls of tape, markers, and pumpkin carvers.
