Fundraising at Mission Avenue Open School is a method of raising money to finance a variety of programs and projects that support the betterment of our students and school site and continue Mission traditions and activities. Many of the fundraising opportunities are supported by our PTA, while others are school or community based.

Missionwear is sold to help promote school spirit. The Missionwear Committee coordinates the design, ordering, and distribution of Mission spirit wear and other merchandise. The committee also staffs the Missionwear booth at various events, including back to school night, the carnival, open house, and more.

The Fun Run is a 10 day in and out of class assembly for the whole school promoting positive fitness, leadership and anti-bullying messages. It includes a remix of Red Ribbon Week assemblies and messages of anti-drugs/alcohol for our elementary students. The culminating event of the two weeks together is a fun run.

The Carnival Committee organizes and puts on the School Carnival. This event features carnival games including the cake walk, plinko, face painting, bounce house, and many more. Food booths are a main staple including cotton candy, popcorn, and outside food vendors. We also invite community vendors to rent a space that feature great crafts and games. Mission Carnival is a PTA coordinated event with classroom and community support. Tickets for games are sold presale, with a discounted rate before the event. Tickets are on sale day of event too. There is no entrance fee for the event.

Mission’s Book Fair is a fundraising opportunity supports our school library. This Scholastic Book Fair will once again be providing books for sale before, during and after school on campus.

The Mission Auction is a PTA coordinated fundraising opportunity. The Auction Committee is responsible to organize all aspects of the biannual school auction. This is an adult only event that features dinner, a raffle prizes, silent and live auction. And provides funding for two years of PTA events including subsidize field trips, art, music, theater, technology programs and school improvement projects such as the garden and outdoor learning space.

Many restaurants in the greater Sacramento area work with our PTA to raise money for our schools on specific nights throughout the year.
